Abby's Rough Week

Abby has had a rough week. Last Tuesday, she fell off the bar stool and ended up in the ER with a concussion. I know, I know, why wasn't I watching her better? Trust me, I feel horrible about it and will never take a potty break ever again. :) She capped her rough week off this morning, with a trip to the Pediatrician for immunizations. She had three and was such a champ about it. She cried when she got the initial pinches, but as soon as those needles were out, she was up and giving me the best hugs ever. It's a good thing Abby's birthday is Thursday, because she deserves some spoiling.

Here are a few pics of Abby- always happy and always smiling.

Abby loves these goggles. They came with Micah's tool bench, but I think she wears them more than he does (even if they are upside down).

This is Abby playing with the door at Gammy and Popi's house. Who needs toys when you can have fun with an everyday, ordinary door. :)

And here is Abby doing what she loves most- playing with her big brother, Micah. Her smile says it all.

Everyday Life

Abby will be 2 on October 1st. She only sleeps through the night about 50% of the time. Needless to say, it gets quite tiring for me. Before any of you think, "She just needs to let her cry", let me just say that I have done that many, many times and the girl will seriously cry all night long. Sunday night for instance, she went to bed at 8:00 p.m., woke up and cried from 1-1:25 a.m., woke and cried again at 3-30 a.m., then again from 4:48-6:09 a.m. I know that one for sure because I finally went in her room, picked her up, brought her back to our room and put her in the swing. It's probably strange to put a 2-year-old in an infant swing, but when you're as tired as I am, you really don't care. :)

She does look peaceful though. :)
Micah loves to color. I bought him one of those velvet pictures that come with markers from the dollar bin at Target. He promptly came home and colored to his little hearts content. He was really proud of the finished product.

Abby eating a smore. Micah loves them, but she wasn't too sure how she felt about the gooey marshmallow.

Micah devouring his smore. He loves every single bite. You can see his cute friend, Noah, in the background a little. We discovered that he likes smores too.

My Little Super Models

You know you have a good photographer when you get these out of a day that included two tired, irritable, completely uncooperative, and even a bit bratty children.

My friend, Danielle, runs her own photography studio and did such a great job taking pics of Micah and Abby. Anyone looking for a photographer should definitely call her.

I love this pic. I think it's so cute how Micah is looking down to get Abby's hand, and she is looking up to grab his hand. It captures perfectly how Micah is sweet and protective of Abby and how Abby loves and trusts Micah explicitly.
Micah holding up the walls. :) Actually, he is laying down.
Love it! Micah in a rare quiet moment.

Abby doing her favorite thing- dancing! I can't wait until she is old enough to take dance lessons.

This picture captures Abby's little attitude soooo well. Her chest all puffed out is something we experience with her daily. This girl is going to give us all a run for our money. :)

My Dad

My dad's cancer treatments are going as well as can be expected. He's been pretty sick though- throwing up, nausea, dehydration, weakness, etc., so the doctor decided to skip his chemo for the next two weeks and just do some i.v. meds to help him feel better. By the time he and my mom left our house on Thursday, I do think he was feeling quite a bit better.
He still has a way to go until he his cancer free, but he is doing a great job and fighting a good fight. We love you dad!
Here is a picture of my dad and Micah taken right after his surgery in February. When my parents are here for my dad's treatments, Micah likes to get up in the morning and hang out with my dad. They read books together and watch cartoons.

This is my dad a couple months ago with Abby. As you can see, his size has drastically decreased. He's lost about 50 lbs. since February. He's actually happy about losing the weight, but it sure is a hard way to do it.
Micah and Abby absolutely love having grandma and grandpa here. When they aren't here, they ask when they are coming back. Micah just calls the guest bedroom downstairs, "Ma ma and pa pa's room". It's sweet and we feel grateful to get to spend so much time with them while my dad heals.

Micah's 1st Day

Here is Micah on the first day of his new preschool. So far, he loves it. I have to say that I'm not too sure how I feel about the fact that my baby is growing up so fast though. Today, as we were driving to his school I told him that I was so proud of him and that he was growing up so fast. He said, "I know. I'm getting bigger." We started talking about things that he can do now that show that he is "big." Here are the top 3 (direct quotes)...
#3- I can go pee pee standing up now;
#2- I can take showers all by myself, and
#1- I can help you.
Okay, so I had to choke back the tears that my baby considers himself "big"' because he can help me. And help me he does. He helps me with Abby. He helps me cook. He helps me clean up (sometimes). He helps me be patient. But most of all, he helps me to be a better person.
