Called to Serve

On Wednesday, Uncle Ian went into the MTC. He is going to the Rapid City, South Dakota mission. We are so proud of Ian for making the decision to serve the Lord. We will certainly miss him for the next two years, but we look forward to the blessings of having a missionary in the family.

Micah was a bit confused about Ian being gone for so long. He understood that we would not be able to see Ian for quite awhile, but was having a hard time understanding what being gone on a mission meant. After many failed attempts at trying to explain just exactly what being gone on a mission means, I finally told him that he would get to see Uncle Ian again when he is six years old. His response, "Oh, okay." Why didn't I think of that in the first place?

Ian is a great uncle and a great example.

Ian and his mom. Ian is the baby of the Garner family. It was hard for Jean Ann to let him go.

Just minutes before they left for the MTC.

The last picture with Uncle Ian before he went into the MTC. His brothers and mother were so proud of him.
See you in two years, Ian.
Until then, we will be thinking of you, praying for you, and anxiously awaiting your emails. We can't wait to hear how the Lord's work is coming along in South Dakota.
We love you!
